Your hosts…

Fiona & Ross Haslemore are locals that grew up in the area and can offer a range of information about the local attractions and what to do, from where the best places to go fishing are to the abundance of bush walks available in Eastern Southland area. We also enjoy dining out and make sure we are up to date with what the latest flare our restaurants in the area have on offer. Please feel free to talk to us for recommendations on where to eat in the area.

OUR STORY

We took on the challenge of running a motel back in June 2010, wanting to be working towards a balanced lifestyle, the motel industry seemed to suit us down to the ground. Both of us grew up in the area and Ross has worked his whole life for two organisations in the community, he started off as an apprentice mechanic and moved up the ranks to become branch manager, he left this role to try a new challenge and spent seven years as a asset manager for the local council but his love of the automotive industry drew him back to his original employer in 2012 . Fiona left Gore to pursue other career paths before returning to Gore late in 2002, during her time away she spent 5 ½ years in the Air Force and also completed her Diploma in Teaching (Primary) through Otago University. Between the two of us we have five children (and their plus ones) and four grand children who we love spending time with. They are scattered around New Zealand and the globe so having motels in Gore when they come home is a plus!
